Drums roll ...

Today we shifted to our new office in CIIE building @ IIM Ahmedabad.

This place is pretty cool and you get a nice view from the rear window :)

Thanks to CIIE team specially Basant Sir,Mr. Kunal,Mr. Pranay ,Aditi, Mugdha and Mr. Naveen for extending their whole hearted support and making this happen so fast !

Its party time at picporta once again ...

Picporta stood first at International entreprenuership challenge 2008 organised at Faculty of managment Studies - Delhi.

We were adjudged by a panel of eminent scientists,Economists andf Industry experts.

Well we have some good news to be shared with you all :) - Firsty we are reaching a major milestone and it soon will be integrated into picporta.

Following functionalities will become alive after the integration and code patches :

• Scence Search - This will enable searching your pictures based on appearance
• Automatic tagging of pictures based on picture content
• Refined face searching and matching
• Automatic face tagging of pictures - by scanning your contact list and finding a name from face.

We will update you soon about other developments taking place at our labs !

Although this update is coming a bit late ..but we have got gr8 a news for you all !

picasa Integration in picporta is finally ready for beta

It took us long to complete this update because of many reasons - one being some glitches from google API's which we reported and they were fixed timely.

Anywayz ... now users can import their albums,pictures and metadata to picporta from picasa - seamlessly !

So start importing and find a new way to organise your pictures.

One more announcement to make Flickr Integration in picporta is finally ready for beta

Vijaita has been working hard to bring this functionaly live.

Now users can import their albums,pictures to picporta - seamlessly !

We import EXIF,comments and other meta data as well.

So whatz next ??

Picasa .. here we come !

One of the biggest modules aka Streams is finally ready for beta

We also have changed the internal design a bit which we hope will be better and more intutive.

Regarding Streams - For those who would like to know more about them ,here are some points

• Streams are folders where anyone can submit pictures
• Streams can be public ,private or exclusive.
• A user can create stream at his wish and then can moderate that stream by controlling the members and pictures submitted
• A stream can have its own sets of rules - like who can post pictures,how many pictures etc.

So .. go ahead and start creating streams - share pictures !

BTW .. we are working hard to fix all the errors and suggestions we are getting from our beta testers

We have noticed a few false detections and improper matches for faces in the pictures and beleive us we too are concerned about the systems ability to detect and identify faces as much as you are.

An update is scheduled soon for upgrade in functionality and more robust face detection in the pictures.

BTW .. i was asked about the abilty of the system against Rotation invariance and illumination independence .. well the answers is YES !!

• Rotation Invariance
• Face Features Extraction
• Illumination Independence
• Rotation upto plus-minus 20 degrees
• Automatic Skin Tone detection
